Why Do We Forget Our Previous Life?

By Alec Pittman

Ever since the beginning of time, people have believed in reincarnation. Even now in modern times reincarnation continues to find a place in many religions, whether it's the Japanese, the Chinese, the Africans, or even the aborigines of Australia. Even many new age religions believe in the concept of having lived previous lives, and that a past life can have a significant influence on one's present life.

Because it is often believed that a past life has an effect on your current health and well being, many people believe that it's important to know yourself, and also who you were in your past lives. It may well be in your own best interest that you settle the demons which may have been left behind. Also, it could well be worth your while to gather up all the strengths and knowledge which you've gained during past lives, in order to be a stronger better person in this life and in future lives.

How can you be sure if you've had past lives or not? The truth is, you simply cannot be sure, even though you may have peculiar dreams or disturbing memories when you're awake, that you feel don't belong to you. Interestingly enough, while a vast number of people believe that everyone has had a past life, some basic mathematics shows clearly that this is not the case, and that there must certainly be some new souls. Some other indications to look out for would include:

* An intense attraction towards a specific culture with which you've had no exposure in this life, and for the most part one which makes little sense to you. If for example you feel deeply attracted to the art or history of a certain era, then you may have had a past life experience regarding that particular era. Quite often if you do a little research and it so happens that the art you're attracted to stems from a relatively short time period, then there's a strong possibility that there's something there.

* Intense emotions with regards to a specific incident in history could also suggest that you may have been involved in one way or another with that specific event.

* Do you have any irrational fears, phobias or allergies which simply cannot be connected to your childhood years? Remember both physical and psychological issues could be linked to past life experiences.

Those indicators which have been mentioned above are just a few of the possible indicators you may or may not experience. However, even if you do experience one or more of the above, you shouldn't necessarily take it for granted that you're remembering a past life. Instead, you should look for patterns and similarities between things which attract you for no apparent reason. Providing you follow this approach you may soon start to notice a pattern forming and when you do, you will be in a better position to put the pieces together.

Hypnosis and self hypnosis are both means through which people can access their past life or lives. In fact there are people who specialize in helping others to gain access to memories locked in their subconscious minds. These past life regression therapists make use of what is known as "deep hypnotic remembering" in order to make it possible to remember past life experiences.

If on the other hand you choose to use self hypnosis rather than a past life regression therapist, you should aim to use a technique which doubles up as a method of deep relaxation. Furthermore, before using the technique for regression, you should first spend some time working with it.

From a safety point of view there is nothing really to worry about. Instead the most that you will experience is an extremely vivid recollection of a past life. While it may not always be very intense, you should still however be able to experience different feelings and even shadows of a past life.

Of course, just as good memories usually pave the way for good feelings, bad memories can pave the way for bad feelings. In that case you will simply wake up to an uneasy feeling similar to what one experiences after having had a nightmare. Of course you may not even experience any bad memories at all.

Furthermore, you need to bear in mind that it's the 'remembering' which is the all important factor here. Once you start remembering, you'll be able to move on in this life and it is only when one suppresses ones subconscious with regards to these memories, that problems start to arise. Acceptance and understanding with regards to things which happened in a previous life can go a long way in helping you in this life

The theory of karma states that if one is good and performs acts of kindness, then you will have good karma. On the other hand, if you are a bad person or you change to become bad then you will simply have bad karma, in which case your life will be plagued by negative events and this will continue until such time that there's a balance between your good and bad karma.

Unfortunately, there still seems to be a great deal of confusion with regards to this interpretation. Unlike some choose to believe, you are not doomed to a life of misery simply because of your actions in a past life. Each time you are born into a new life you once again have the chance to do things in such a way so as to attract good karma. Of course once you reach the stage where you're aware of the fact that a certain memory is from a past life, and that it doesn't necessarily mean you're a bad person, you can then live happily in the knowledge that this life can be great. - 42631
